BUPA were looking to consolidate all of their 2000 staff from two separate Manchester city offices into their brand new Salford HQ. With so many staff on one site, parking was an obvious issue they needed to overcome. Allocation of staff parking needed to be cut by 50% at the new site compared to what was available at the previous two separate offices.
The healthcare provider also wanted to improve their company’s sustainability and reduce the impact they had on the environment.
Liftshare designed and built a bespoke Liftshare platform that allowed staff to easily find colleagues to share their commute with. Along with the award-winning technology solutions, we also ran engagement sessions and consultancy days to help develop sustainable travel policies for the company, as well as answer any questions or concerns that staff may have had about the new scheme, getting people signed up and using the system.
This was supported with internal emails and leaflets, as well as open forum sessions. Dedicated Liftshare bays were designated in the car park which were a great incentive for people to share.
The results speak for themselves. 33% of staff have signed up for the scheme and half of those are regularly sharing their journey with a colleague. This saved staff over £115,000 in fuel costs and took over 100,000 milles off the road in 2018 alone.
The success of the BUPA scheme demonstrates that Liftshare can be invaluable when it comes to office moves, alleviating staff concerns about how to get to the new site, and helping to solve any parking problems that may be encountered.
Liftshare have now become a trusted and valuable partner of BUPA to facilitate their sustainable travel goals. Liftshare schemes have now been rolled out at a further two offices in the UK on the back of the success at their Salford HQ.
