50,000 people in the UK confirmed as sharing through Liftshare

Liftshare are delighted to announce the achievement of a huge milestone: there are now 50,000 members confirmed as sharing a regular journey through Liftshare.com or one our Liftshare communities.

Based on this, together we will save £24, 745, 805, 246, 501, 298 miles,  and reduce CO2 by 48, 437 tonnes over the next 12 months. These are huge numbers, but what will it mean to you, the individual? Our average regular sharer will save over £1000 in the next year. Imagine what you could spend those savings on– a holiday, home improvements, a savings fund? Not only that, by sharing, you will have huge impacts on the quality of our roads by reducing the number of cars travelling on them. And CO2? The gruesome fact is that there are an estimated 4.2 million death a year as a result of ambient air pollution. By taking a car off the road, you will have a direct positive impact on air quality.

We are delighted to have achieved this milestone, but to achieve our goal of 70, 000 sharers by 2020 we still have a challenge ahead. By achieving this with you, we will remove 1 billion car miles from our roads, help our sharers to save £87, 710, 000 and reduce CO2 by 97,300 tonnes in 12 months.

Once you’ve found a match, strike up a conversation to get things started, then, if you’re the passenger, send a request to share.

Once the request is accepted by the driver, you’re good to go.

By sending and accepting request to share, you help Liftshare to understand how many of our members are actually sharing. In turn, this helps us to calculate the statistics, such as how much CO2 is being reduced, and how close we are to achieving our mission of saving one billion miles by 2020.
